Food Getaway: Chopstop

It was late last year when my sister and I first visited ChopStop and I totally forgot to blog about it. The gloomy weather made me sat up on my bed and wanted me to be productive today. No classes since Saturday here in Pampanga and it's continuously raining outside. Just the perfect bed-weather!

So I tried to get my ass off and started being productive a little by cleaning my phone and card memory by transferring my photos from my mobile to my laptop, I recognized that I took photos of this chain last year pa. So what better way to spend this day than to blog, at least. :)

I went to SM Pampanga with my sister and when we were about to had our lunch, we decided to venture into a fast food chain that offers a different vibe from the usual Jollibee and Mcdo. We decided to walk a little further and discovered ChopStop. We both knew that it's a newly-opened chain back then so we tried their bestsellers.

The resto was located at SM Pampanga, 2nd floor beside Chowking and ordering for your food is the same like you're ordering on McDonalds or Jollibee.

So while the other customers were ordering, we chose our food through their menu. It's a shame that the place only have few customers when we got there provided that it's lunch time. Still, we tried their food so we would know if it's worth going back.

My sister and I had BBQ and Country. We also opted for Fudge Brownie Mug Cake as our dessert. We only had one because I want to try their dessert first before digging into a lot. I usually have a sweet tooth and when I try something for the first time, I ended up eating the whole desert even if it's not to my liking at all. In short, I don't want any leftovers, especially on dessert. I can give the rest to my sister if I don't like it that's why we just got one first. And a follow-up never happened. Hahaha..

ChopStop did filled our tummy but not to the extent that I will be going back. First, I thought that the portion will be chopped, hence the name. They served it as a whole though, I wished they chopped it instead. We had to undergo to the chopping process pa without a knife and only with the usual spoon and fork service here in our country.

The BBQ which I had was way too sweet! I think the Country was better. I had a little from my sister to taste. Given that they mentioned that the BBQ was their bestseller. I usually asked the staff of the restaurant, especially when I'm new what their bestseller was so I can try it first hand. I thought the BBQ was just glazed perfectly because the presentation was great.

Only my sister had an Iced Tea and sipping a little from hers, made me realized that it's better I didn't order. Water is always the best! Haha. Iced Tea was too sweet to my liking as well. What I like was their veggies. Perfectly cooked! The rice, nah! It was just too dry!

Resto Name: CHOPSTOP
Address: 2ND FLOOR, SM PAMPANGA
Type of Food: FASTFOOD
WIFI: NONE!

I remember not finishing the entire meal and I just don't like that. As much as possible, almost all the time, I finish everything on my plate because I don't want food going into waste. And if I can barely finish the food because of the taste and if it's really difficult to finish to begin with, that place is already doomed in my eyes. I'm never going back!

I just hope that if ever I'll be back there in the future, a change was made. Or maybe our visit was just one of those unfortunate time we had. Hoping for the best!

  1. Too bad that it didn't love up to your expectations. But then again if you didn't try it you'd never know right! The presentation was nice but if it doesn't taste good whats the point! The desert does look good though!

    1. Yup. Some people like it and others don't. I guess I fall on the second one.

  2. It doesn't matter what changes were made. You already have a bias against the establishment because of your personal experience. As a business, this is very important. Knowing how customers feel. I have read in another blog that the service was subpar. Personally, I have been to their branch at De La Rosa in Makati and thought the food was typical of fast foods in the country. Nothing more. Price wise, let's say food courts offer better value.

    1. I became bias because of a reason. It might still change though if I tried other stuff from them. It happened to me before in one of the resto I visited. At first, I didn't like the food then when I went back again and ordered a completely different set of food, I came to like them.

  3. The place looks really nice. Dessert looks delicious too. But all goes in vain if the taste is not up to the mark. Too bad that it was an unpleasant experience for you. Thanks for the review!

    1. The experience for me might be different for other people. It's just that I didn't like it that much.

  4. I'm sorry you didn't love the restaurant. I adore BBQ. But I agree that if it is too sweet it is a problem. At least the veggies were tasty!

  5. I have the same problem, I find BBQ sauce to be way to sweet for me so I avoid ordering anything with it while at a restaurant. If I would go to a restaurant and don't like the food I would definitely complain. I don't like paying for something that is not quality.

    1. I'm not really complaining much tho. I only complain if it's undercook or if there are other things in it like insects (which didn't happened yet). I'll pay on my food and the service but sorry if I won't come back again and if I happen to share my thoughts on the bad experience.

  6. I've tried it before, and I loved the BBQ sauce! I also put more pepper/chili whatever they have. But I'm yet to try their sundae. I bet it's the perfect dinner & desserts combo.

  7. I just finished dining here LOL! The BBQ sauce is actually not that good but the rest of my order is fine good for the bucks. Happy you liked it because some people complained that it was too sweet.

  8. Awesome restaurant review. There prices seems on point. It's a pity they don't have WiFi connection. Oh well, people can use a real conversation haha. Thanks for sharing! ;)

    1. True! Sometimes having no wifi also gives more time to the diner to have real conversation with their friends or whoever they are with. I think WIFi in a resto is useful for marketing. You can immediately post their food on your social media real time.

  9. I've been to Chopstop before and it was a great dining experience. The Glazed Chicken BBQ is awesome. What I love with Chopstop is that they are offering great foods in cheaper prices. I will surely come back here for more. Looks like you had a great experience too.

  10. I did a review of my experience with ChopStop before and you know what, if there is one thing in their menu that I wouldn't mind tasting over and over, it would be their brownie mug cake ♥♥ the meat is quite thin though..
    here's my post about them

    1. My overall experience wasn't really that nice. But I recently decided to go back and try their other meal. Hopefully it would be better the second time.
