Review: Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick

With the recent hype of ultra matte lipstick, I was once again encouraged brainwashed to buy one of those most coveted Colourpop Ultra Matte. At first, I was skeptical to get the brand because of the price. With it's price, I can get 2-3 of those drugstore kind of lipstick but the beauty addict in me badly wants to try it so there you go. You know what happened next.

I bought this from Suzanne's Emporium. The Beeper was a brand new for P320 while Monday and Thursday were used few times and it was given to me for P280. It's pretty cheap knowing that its counterparts from different shops are priced higher that what was stated. Who wouldn't grabbed a deal like this, right? So without second thought, I immediately bought it!

I immediately used the products upon arrival due to my excitement without thinking of shooting it. As a blogger, I normally do that because I might ruined the product's packaging or content. Especially with Colourpop Matte whit the silver cap, the label were all removed easily. As of this writing, it actually disappeared already unlike the one with a black cap.

At this time and age, there are a lot of shops which sells replica or fake counterparts. That's why I loved Suzanne's Emporium because I am confident that everything they have is 101% legit. To know how to spot an original Colourpop, there should be a very slight space between the cap and the lid part. It is pretty obvious with the silver one but not with the black one. Some people said that fake CP has an intense odor and original doesn't have. I do not own a fake CP and I can't differentiate the too.

The wand should also be white as others say. I want to buy a fake one for comparison but I think it's just a waste on money since I won't be using them anyway.

Monday - It is a nude shade with peach undertone. It is a lightweight formula that smoothly glides on the lips. Pigmentation is great because one swipe goes a long way. Plus it's transfer-proof and can lasts really long.

Thursday - It is a brilliant red violet color which also has undeniably intense pigmentation. It is transfer-proof and can also lasts longer on the lips. I remember using this one time during a school event and after almost half day, it was still there. It became quite cracky though so it's better to clean and reapply than flaunt your cracked lips.

Beeper - One of the reason why I bought this batch is because of Beeper. I think the color was so popular, it made me buy all three. Beeper is a like a warm mid-tone taupe. This also has good pigmentation on me and can last long but I find it too dark on me sometimes.

So my take on these colors is that I like Monday a lot. It is something wearable everyday and for me, it can goes well with any outfit. As for Thursday, I usually use it whenever I wanted to make an impression. Or on days that I am super tired and when I'm in doubt. I don't go for red. I use this instead. I feel that Beeper is something that makes me fierce so I use this when teaching my worst students haha.
Yay for me! (。◕‿  ◕。)
  • Got this for a cheaper price than on other stores. Thanks Suzanne's Emporium
  • I like how handy it is.
  • Glides easily and smoothly on the lips.
  • Available in different colors.
  • Intense matte.
  • Transfer-proof and waterproof.
  • Lasts for a very long time.

Nay! (。◕︵◕。)
  • Quite expensive when bought online. (Hello shipping!)
  • Tends to make lips become very dry.
  • Can only be bought online. No physical stores or the like.

Price: P280.00 -320.00
Bought from: Suzanne's Emporium
 Size: 3.2 g.

I used all three on this review without lip liner for more accurate color. My issue with Colourpop though is sometimes it gets pretty drying for me. I remember it stayed on my lips for 6-7 hours but after removing it with a makeup remover, it gets seriously chapped and dry. I almost hated the brand for that.

However, I would like to explore more colors though if given the chance and I would like to try their satin line too! I think I need to explore Colourpop more to know what they have to offer. đź’ś

  2. Ang tagal ko na gusto ma-try ang Colourpop. Yung ultra matte madami nagsasabi na super drying daw sa lips. They prefer the lippiestix. Gusto ko din yung shade ng Beeper and Cami. Siguro will do buy soon. Thanks for sharing! :)

  3. Matte lippies are becoming a trend now. In fact they were so addicting! I've hoarded quite a lot already but never tried anything from colour pop yet. They're shades are nice too! Would love to have one soon!

    1. What brand mommy? Matte lipstick is really the trend now, and since it's the trend, there are a lot of brands who came up with their latest matte collection. However, I think that all are of great quality.

  5. Haven't tried Colourpop yet since I've always stuck to Maybelline, Kylie, & L'Oreal. Seems pretty nice though since it's cheap and as you said stays on for very long. Creamy mattes are really nice though. The best way I prevented my lips from getting quite dry is either adding balm on top once dried or adding a gloss. :)

    1. I seldom to that. Once I put on balm before the product, the longevity is affected. I just made sure I moisturize my lips every night.

  6. This is a great review and very helpful, too, for mums who are not well-versed about anything make-up or lipstick. I love the different colors and they look like something I would try myself. It is just a hassle that they make your lips dry. I hope they will do something to improve their formulation and include lip moisturizer or something.

  7. Colourpop is really a great brand especially if you are into looking for dupes of certain more expensive brands. This review is really helpful especially to those who are curious about the brand. Personally, I have 3 Colourpop lippies and bought them from Beauty MNL. I tried putting lip balm on top of it so my lips won't feel so dry. It works, though sometimes it beats the matte look. What I like most about matte lippies is that it gives that elegant look and may be worn at any occasion.

  8. I think all matte lippies tend to make our lips dry. hehe. I haven't tried colourpop yet but I am wanting to ever since! I just think I already have lots of lipstick so I stopped buying for now. haha! And yes, these colors are all nice! Looks elegant but the price is cheap compared to other high end make up brands.

    1. I don't think so. I have Meet Matte Hughes and it's super awesome. Doesn't dry the lips even if it's matte. A little expensive though.

  9. I like liquid lipsticks. But,matt lipsticks are not my choice. Those make my lips really dry and feel very uncomfortable. But,the ones I use are glossy and keep me comfortable while wearing the lipstick.Anyway, these colours look pretty!

    1. I have a lot of matte and it's a pity if they will just expire. I need to use them as fast as I can. Hihi

  10. Oooooh! I love the colors! My friend loves Colorpop although I'm quite hesitent to buy the matte ones cause my lips are already so dry! :(

  11. Nice colors, but not my type. I guess I should experience them though, because I've always been partial to the wet look and to dark or nude colors. I've never heard of this brand; it will be interesting to experience it. Thanks!

  12. Great review! Everyone loves a good and quality worth lippy! I like how the colors are so vivid and strong. You're right that it's so much better to buy these from shops that sell cheaper unlike online where you also have to pay for shipping. Never heard of the brand before but it looks promising.
