Food Getaway: Ala Creme

August 29 was the day before I go to the hospital for my induction. I was past my due date which was on the 28th. I told my husband to treat me to something nice for my so-called last supper. Haha. We came that day from my OB's appointment and finished late. She advised me to walk more and from her clinic, we walked until we reach Ala Creme. I totally missed the place. It used to be our hangout during our first few years together. A lot of food places opened here in our place and we forgot to go back the Ala Creme. It's only now that we visited it again. It's good to be back!

We started with salad. I opted to get one because I don't want to feel too heavy before my big day. I always eat salad whenever I have the option and time. This salad is one of my faves.  Love their salad and the dressing that goes with it!

Mango Chicken Chopped Salad - P195.00

Something that I think will go well with salad are buffalo wings. Since I found out that it's one of their bestsellers I chose it and it didn't failed us. I like the well-balanced flavor of sweetness and spiciness of this meal plus the dressing that has a kick of vinaigrette goes well with the taste. Definitely a must-try!

Buffalo Chicken Wings - P198.00

Jaycee ordered a full meal while I ditched the rice. You know why. I am already too heavy and I might have a hard time to go in labor if I eat more rice. He chose to have Steak A La Creme. He's just a steak buddy! I tasted it and it's quite good too!

Steak A La Creme - P385.00

He also got his own coffee and I just got water. I'm more into water since I got pregnant. I never took coffee during my whole pregnancy. I just think it's a little off with their coffee. I was expecting more of the cafe style in coffee shops but then again it's just P58.00.

Cafe Americano - P58.00

Lastly, I want something sweet for the finish. A slice of ube cake which is also one of their bestsellers is a must to try. I totally didn't eat much sweets during my pregnancy ut a little taste won't hurt. Besides. I think of it as a reward before I give birth.

Ube Macapuno with Walnut Slice - P114.00

Resto Name: ALA CREME
Address: CTH Bldg. McArthur Highway, Dolores, San Fernando, Pampanga
Type of Food: Cafe Bistro, Cakeshop and Restaurant
WIFI: Fast :)

After eating at Ala Creme I thought, why did we ever forgot to go back again on that place. It's actually a good thing that it's still open until now despite the competition on restaurants. Will definitely go back after our visit. Next time, together with our baby. :)

Get Your Own Inflatable at Inflatable Zone

I may not be the adventurous type of gal but I really wanted to experience more things in life. It's just that I have so many reasons as to why I am not experiencing this kind or that kind of thing. I have a very short list of friends who I considered the adventurous type but we weren't that much close and there's also this shortage of time and being busy and all.

Sometimes I just want to have my own inflatable-zone at home where I can play for an unlimited amount of time. I can even invite my friends then and just childishly play to our hearts content.

I recently found out about this zorbing ball - zorb ball Outdoor Toy At Inflatable-zone.com. The website offers different products that can be use for water games and non-water games like something for bubble soccer, inflatable bouncer, inflatable slide, inflatable tents and more.

You can view more of the products HERE. They're the leading manufacturer of inflatable products online. These products can be easily purchased online than in stores. I think I will spoil myself and get one of this. The only problem though is the space. I don't have that big space for inflatables. Now, I think our goal for our new home is a bigger space for something like this.

For those who have large space and wanted to experience water games, you can purchase some inflatables here at a very affordable price. Payment's also very flexible that you will really want to get one for yourself.

Review: The Face Shop MasCream Sheet (Nourishing)

Before I got pregnant, I used to have a number of steps on my skin care routine and one of my favorites is using face masks. I have so many masks in stock at home but delayed using them because I don't wanna risk using too much product while pregnant. Now that I already gave birth, I think it's now safe to go back on my routine again.

This is my first time to use this line of face mask from The Face Shop. I always have the smaller line which I forgot the name. It's also cheaper than this one. I think this is around a 100+ because it's bigger and the absorption and the essence is a little different than the other line.

It's thicker and the essence seeps more deeply on the skin. I also feel this mask gives a more moisturizing after effect on my face. The shape of the mask also fits the face more correctly. than those previous masks I've tried. However, there's no drastic change after the application. Maybe because my skin was just so dry post-pregnancy that I didn't felt much difference after the application.

Now, I need to go back to my old routine and I need to put more effort in my skin care especially that I'm always taking care of my baby. I only have the help of my hubby in the evenings and my MIL once in a while. I love taking care of my little one and I'm making the most out of it while I'm still on leave. Hopefully I can adjust fully soon!

Yay for me! (。◕‿  ◕。)
  • More essence. Seeps deep in the skin.
  • Feels more moisturizing than the other masks I've tried.
  • Bought this on sale. I forgot the amount though.
  • Comes in different variants perfect for your skin needs.

Nay! (。◕︵◕。)
  • A little expensive than the normal when bought on it's regular price.
Price: P100+++ (I forgot the exact price) Sorry!
Bought from: The Face Shop
 Size: 1 face mask. 30 g.

I'll try to review all the variants of each mask next time instead of reviewing it single-handedly. This process is a little tedious and it take so much of my time. I think I also need to manage my time in blogging because I get to spend more time in taking care of my precious one.

Wait for my other mask review next time!

Review: Menow Kissproof Soft Lipstick

A couple of months ago, I ordered Menow Kissproof from Suzanne's Emporium. My plan was to actually get all the shades but 4 of the shades were out of stock. I ordered the lipsticks together with two sharpeners but I only received one of the latter. I told Miss Suzanne about it and she said she will be sending another sharpener together with the other 4 shades which I didn't got to purchase. She said it's better to review the complete set so she gamely sponsored the 4 remaining shades and she sent them to me when her new stocks arrived. Thanks sis!

Kissproof lipsticks claims to be kiss proof and long lasting. It is matte and has a total of 19 shades and the color ranges from nudes to pink to red and oranges. I bought each for P100 at Suzanne's Emporium.  It is not a twist-up tube unlike the ones we are familiar with. I tried twisting it up at first only to find out that it needs to be sharpen together with the container itself. Kissproof also is authentic and there were no fake ones in the market so it's guaranteed that every Kissproff you encounter is safe to purchase.

Anyway, it was so tedious swatching all the lipstick so I asked help from my sisters. My eonnie Felice (a term used for elder sister in Korean) and I alternately swatched the lipstick on our lips and eonnie Julie took the photos from her Zenfone. Prior to swatching everything, I already used the lipstick when I was still working and before I started my leave. I get to use a different shade everyday. The first Monday I used #1, for Tuesday #2 and so on.

I noticed that there were those that were really easy to use and those that were a pain in the ass. I even dared using the loud ones in front of my students and I didn't care just for the sake that I can experience all the shades for the whole day. Haha.

I personally love #2, #6, #10, #12, #13, #14 and #16. I don't have any problems with each of those swatches. I can easily use them in school without scaring my students unlike #3 and #11 which were the dark ones. However, I like #11 because it can easily glide on the lips.

There are those that were really difficult to apply and those that looks dry like #4, #17 and #19. Those 3 were the least favorite of mine. The remaining ones were the so-so ones. They're just okay as it is.

Overall, not all were kiss proof. Some lasted 3-4 hours and others lasted 5-6 hours with minimal touch-ups. Minimal touch-ups means that I need to make sure that the colors were intact because I noticed that some shades actually cracks making my lips look dry. I always talk a lot with my work because I'm a teacher and I noticed that they weren't perfectly kiss proof at all. However, they still work great because there are a lot of colors to play and it last for a good period of time.

Yay for me! (。◕‿  ◕。)
  • Lots of shades to choose from.
  • Longevity was great for some colors.
  • It's matte but there are others that didn't totally look like matte at all.
  • Affordable.
  • Some has creamy consistency and can be easily glide on the lips.
  • Quite unique because the container can be sharpened as well.

Nay! (。◕︵◕。)
  • Some colors make my lips look dry.
  • Other colors are just too nah!
  • Not available at local market. Can be purchased online though with shipping fee.
Price: P100 each
Bought from: Suzanne's Emporium
 Size: 4.2 g

Overall, I like the brand and I have personal favorites but not all the swatches. I gave away some to my sisters as well. I let them picked their fave color among the set. I will be dealing with the remaining ones once I get back to work. I still have a lot of lipstick for review and I hope that I can have more time in dealing with those soon. I am a new mom now and I am just stealing time in blogging while my little one is sleeping.

Anyway, hope for more reviews in the future soon! I hope I can adjust to motherhood very well!
Cheers!

Review: The Face Shop Blackhead Out Dual Nose Strips

It's been a while since I last posted a review regarding beauty products. I recently gave birth and because I didn't use much products on myself during pregnancy, a lot of beauty stuff were stock on my beauty shelf. So what better way to experience them is to use them (or if I'll get the chance to sell the items, then it would be better because I can save up for baby! :) ). Anyway, one of the product I recently use is The Face Shop's Blackhead Out Dual Nose Strips. My whiteheads and blackheads were stressing me out for 9 months and it's time to get rid of them.

This item was given to me by my sister to try out. She actually didn't like it and told me to use it and see if it will work for me. Too bad because it didn't worked for me either.

This has two steps. I just followed what was written on both part which is to apply for 15 minutes. Both has the same instruction. The first one has a strong smell for me. It's just a simple patch with a little essence that you need to apply which claims that it removes blackhead by using cotton buds to softly remove blackheads. This step didn't worked for me at all. I cleaned it thoroughly but nothing happened.

The second step claims to be a Pore Tightening Sheet that tightens the pores after the first cleaning happened.  The mask was sticky to the core, makes it difficult to apply. Even this didn't felt like it tightens my skin's pores'. In short, I didn't felt any improvement on my nose area after the whole session.

I already tried series of nose strips and nose packs in the past. The most effective one for me is also from The Face Shop which is their Volcanic Clay Mask. I totally swear by it! It's super effective that I repeatedly used it for the longest period I ever know. It's just that it was always out of stock and I think they totally removed it from their line which is the saddest thing ever!

Yay for me! (。◕‿  ◕。)
  • Got it for FREE from my sister.
  • English translation was provided even if it's a Korean product.

Nay! (。◕︵◕。)
  • Blackheads didn't come out.
  • No tightening of pores happened after the second mask application.
Price: FREE
Bought from: The Face Shop
Size: 2 sheets in 1 pack

Overall, this is not a candidate to be a good nose pack. I tried others and those other were better for me. Not the best but still better.

I have a new mask to try which was sponsored by Miss Suzanne's shop which was Suzanne's Emporium. Will try that one out by next week and let's see how will that work out. Hoping it will be better than this!

Choose Health, Choose Okyalo

This past few months, I've been very careful and cautious with whatever I put inside my body. I totally ditched sodas which I really, really like back then. So I started changing my drinks with fruits and just pure water. The wide variants of Aloe Vera drinks from Okyalo is a better alternative to choose from.

Okyalo aloe vera juice for life is of pure quality, low calories and has the best price in the market. It's a Super Delicious Aloe Vera Drink which is natural, green and healthy. As we have known, aloe vera has been used in many forms for a variety of reason from generations to generations. It has been used for both topical and ingested uses which has been around since the beginning of time. I remember using Aloe Vera in my masks and even in my DIY hair masks. It has been very effective in making my skin and hair moisturized and healthy.

As mentioned earlier, it has different variants to choose from like the Okyalo Low Calories Aloe Vera Lychee Drink together with Strawberry, Pineapple, Peach among others.

If you're thinking why you need to try drinking aloe vera juice, here are some of the benefits of drinking them.

1. Cleanse and detoxify

Thanks to a high concentration of vitamins, minerals and amino acids, it is an amazing natural cleaner. It helps promote healthy digestion which encourages your body to rid toxic elements from it in a natural way. Because it is so soothing, it helps reduce inflammation and allows things to pass through. Additionally, it will help clear skin in this way as well. If digestive issues and skin issues are plaguing you, try drinking aloe vera gel juice today!

2. Stronger immunity

If you have too much inflammation in your body, it can cause all sorts of problems. One of the worst problems it will cause is issues with your immunity. Particularly with certain conditions like eczema for example which can flair up at any time, aloe vera juice can help reduce the inflammation from within, leading to the diminishing of these kinds of things.

3. Reduction of cholesterol and blood sugar

For those that suffer from high cholesterol or diabetes, aloe vera juice has a positive effect on reducing those numbers. Try drinking aloe vera juice as a healthy alternative when you crave something sweet and you’ll enjoy improved health.

4. Improved digestion

Aloe vera juice can easily soothe upset stomachs or even chronic problems like IBS. Because it is so soothing and reduces inflammation, it helps alleviate the painful symptoms associated with it.

5. Provides ample vitamin and mineral intake

You’ll find all sorts of necessary vitamins and minerals in aloe vera juice drinks. From vitamins A, C and E to all the B vitamins. Plus folic acid too. Calcium, zinc, iron, potassium and magnesium are all in there too. And that’s just some of the wonderful stuff you’ll be drinking in when you drink aloe vera juice. Because it tastes good and is naturally sweet, children love it so you can be sure they get their daily dosage of nutrients too.

So what are you waiting for, grab a bottle or two from Okyalo and cheers to a healthier you!

Finally, a Safe and Effective Way to Deal with Dengue Mosquitoes

Here in the tropics, the rainy season is also the season for Dengue, a potentially deadly, yet all too common mosquito borne disease.  Last year there were over 200,000 cases of Dengue fever reported in the Philippines , and almost 600 were fatalities.  What is alarming is that this was way up from the 121,000 reported instances in 2014.  More alarming still is that just this year, the DOH has reported 70,000 Dengue cases from January to July, the supposed lean Dengue months, this is 19% more than the same period last year.   It is now more imperative than ever that measures be taken to curb Dengue, and the best way to do that is to control the numbers of Dengue Mosquitoes.

In the Philippines, nobody is safe form Dengue, it cuts across all socio-economic barriers.  Anyone can be infected, and anyone can die from it.  In fact Dengue statistics in the Philippines are based only on people who seek treatment at hospitals or clinics.  Because the initial symptoms of Dengue are the same as more benign illnesses such as the flu, many Dengue cases go unreported, especially since instances of the flu also rise at the onset of the rainy season.  Dengue is all too often detected too late, which is part of the reason why it is so potentially deadly.

The problem with products that kill or repel mosquitoes is that there is always a catch.  There are sufficient studies to show that most chemical based products can be quite harmful if used too long.  Spray products do kill mosquitoes, but there is a reason even their manufacturers advise people not to enter a freshly sprayed room for some time.  Fume based products such as katol (mosquito coils) and vape mats emit toxins and are singled out by the website babycenter.in as particularly harmful to infants but also to adults.
Electric bug zappers are quite noisy and can be quite disruptive at night; and finally lotions are effective, but not affordable or convenient enough to apply daily.  This is why the Hanns Insect Trap is the best alternative for anyone but especially for mothers who want to keep mosquitoes away from their kids, but who don’t like the adverse effects of other mosquito control methods.
Like a bug zapper, the Hanns Insect Trap uses a UV light to attract insects, so like the bug zapper, it is fume and toxin free.  However, while bug zappers can be quite noisy and even startling every time a bug is zapped, the Hanns Insect Trap deals with mosquitoes quietly by sucking them into a cage out of which they can’t escape, and that they ultimately die in.  They are also extremely simple to deploy, you just plug them in and turn them on.  With prolonged use, Hanns Insect Traps can get even mosquito infested areas under control.  Hanns Insect Traps are available in Handyman, SnR,  True Value, and other leading retailers.  For more information, visit:  www.facebook.com/hannsph,

July and August Collective Haul

I put together two months worth of haul because I only got some few items last July. The first three photos on this post were the ones I had last month. I've been advised by my OB-Gyne to rest completely starting July 17 until my full term week. I had several spotting incidents before and I don't want to risk my health and my baby so I had my sick leave at work even if some portion of it was unpaid. My OB granted my maternity only until the 22nd of August, only to find out that it will only be granted by the Division Office and the day of my delivery itself. I rested in bed for more than a month! T'is the reason why I wasn't able to purchase a lot because I'm saving money for I might not receive my month's salary or perhaps a portion of it. I still didn't got a notice on how much percent will be deducted from me. Anyway, some of what I got from this haul were actually sent to me by my blog sponsors and some which I personally purchased online.

So without further ado, let me show you my 2 month haul for July and August.

Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips and Brush Egg
I purchased the Vaseline from Zarine's Boutique for only P120.00 and my eldest sister gave me the Brush Egg. It is used for cleaning makeup brushes and I will do the cleaning of my brushes once the bed rest is lifted by my OB.

Wishtrend Jungle Botanics Shampoo and Treatment
I was lucky to be chosen as the first few bloggers to review the new product launched by Wishtrend. Will be doing the review on each product soon!

 Fleece Blanket
It was P150 at Surplus Shop last time I visited the mall so I got 2 of this, one for my MIL and one for my baby. It's so soft that it would be perfect to serve as blanket or anything that will give comfort.

Baby Looney Tunes Bag and Bag Contents
Last minute preparation for my little bundle of joy! I'm adding few extra items here and there and I don't know why I keep on purchasing mittens. Haha. I will create a blog post separately about what's inside my hospital bag soon.

Sample Room Haul
Got my latest items from Sample Room which consists of a shampoo and conditioner from Pantene and 2 Skin White products. A Kim Chiu album is also included in the loot!

Parisian Basic Sandals
Purchased this sandals at 50% off. This is only 200 pesos and perfect for quick trips in the market or quick errands.

The Face Shop Masks
I decided to purchase a lot of masks to take advantage of TFS 5+5 promo and also because I wanted to bring the nourishment back to my skin after I gave birth. I admit my skin became more dry unlike before and I need to go back to my Korean skincare regimen again.

I tried so hard to control myself but I just can't let the chance pass not to get these items from Suzanne's Emporium. The prices are so low that I wanted to get more but I managed to keep it at 500php.
Products to review from Suzanne's Emporium
Miss Suzanne wanted me to review these products. More of these on the blog soon!

That's everything on my 2 month haul from July to August. I believe I successfully restrained myself from getting more beauty products on these 2 months. I hope to skip on getting more beauty products in the coming months and focus first on the reviews of what I already had.

What can you say on my haul? Any similar products you have and what are your impressions on those products? Share it here! 'Till the next month!
