Review: Charcoal Mask

It's been so long since I was looking for the replacement of my favorite nose pack and I've searched to and fro and still wasn't able to see the perfect replacement there would be. However, I saw from a friend's account that she was selling a Charcoal Mask which I believed was also sold at Daiso or Japan Home. I know this Charcoal Mask was a hit in Japan so I tried buying one. I was a little disappointed.

I have known black mask or anything that is related to charcoal are effective as nose pack. That is why this nose pack from The Face Shop is my favorite because it just totally removed the tiniest whitehead I can see. I had high hopes on this product so much because I've been eyeing for this at Daiso but just can't find one. Now I can say that I have hands-on experience with this beauty product.

The product was written in Japanese but the instructions on how to use it at the back are written in good English. Good thing they wrote something important that can be understood.

Upon opening the cover, there is an inner covering which prevents the product to spill. I have noticed this among Korean and Japanese  and I like that they are very meticulous when it comes to hygiene. Thumbs up for that!

The product is a black, sticky cream that you need to put in any part of the face before it dries. There's no bad smell and I can't smell any particular scent also so this is okay. It's just a little sticky so it's quite difficult to apply. I push out the product from the tube and used my bare hands by the way. I don't think a scooper or any tool will be useful since the product is quite sticky and can easily harden.

You just have to wait for 10-15 minutes or until the product has dried off. The first time I used this, I made sure it was dry before I peeled it off so it took me around 30 minutes waiting. When I peeled off the product, I noticed that it was peeled in portion. I was disappointed because I was expecting that since it hardened already, it can be peeled off all throughout.

I gave the product the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe I was not just used to it. so I tried the same process the second time and still the same thing happened like the one below. Since it's broken into pieces, I just can't see how much amount of whitehead and blackhead it pulled off.

Yay for me! (。◕‿◕。)
  • Claims to be a Natural Pack
  • Has an inner covering for hygienic purposes
  • Affordable at P180.00
Nay! (。◕︵◕。)
  • It doesn't peel off in one go!
  • It is sold at P88 or around P90 at some Daiso store (according to a review) but I got it for P180 online.
  • Not easily available in the local market.
  • Removes little blackhead and whitehead.
Price: P180.00
Bought from: Dress Icon
 Size: 80 g.

I think the product was effective in removing whiteheads and blackheads as you can see in the photo above. There are slight whiteheads that are shown in those black pack. However, I know the product can do better than this. I just think that this product may be old or was stock for so long that the effect was not that good anymore. I have known this from reviews that it's a peel-off in one go pack when it dries. It's just so sad I haven't experienced it with this product! I'm disappointed.

Any experience with the same product? What can you say about it's effect? I'm still on the lookout for effective nose pack so shoot em a comment if you know where I can find one. Xoxo ♥

  2. Same thing happened to me :'( It broke into pieces and because of that, it did nothing to clear up my pores. I bought mine in Daiso for 88 pesos. I think iWhite's nose pack works a lot better. You can test their product with the sachet version only for I think 20 pesos :D

    1. I tried iWhite before and yes, it's more effective than this. I just had some cleaning-up issues on iWhite as well. What's painful with this is that I got this for a higher price than Daiso.

  3. It looks effective and I want to give it a go but it might be hard to find. We don't even have a Daiso store near our place. Where do you recommend I can buy it? (which is not online). Thanks! :)

  6. What an effective whiteheads and blackheads remover, this charcoal mask could offer. I don't if men, including me, could use this kind of treatment. Hope so?

  8. I hate it when the mask is not dry enough. I stick to nose peels.

  9. Tried a nose pack mask before and it didn't helped me. I preferred nose trips for black/whiteheads.

  16. I have never tried any masks to have my whiteheads removed! I know it's not good but I always scrub it with a towel. lol.

    1. No, don't scrub it with towel sis. It might damage your skin or might create a breakout because of the friction of the towel to your face. Just pat your face always, don't rub!

    1. True! One should always try to know if the product is effective or not. Reviews like this will really determine the quality of the product. And in this case, it's a no-no.

  19. Never tried any masks to remove my whiteheads/blackheads. I just wash my face thoroughly. I used ponds and shulamite carrot whitening soap for washing. Then I put Myra (moisturizer and face lotion) after. Then some BB cream to no longer put make up. :)

I'm afraid to try some because it might not go right and will cause acnes all over my face.

    1. You actually put a lot na sis. It really depends if your skin can adjust well on the products you use. This mask is solely for removing blackheads and whiteheads alone and it's not that effective for me.
