Food Getaway: Buffalo's Wings and Things

Last week, Jaycee and I went to Ace Water Spa (Banawe) to experience their services the second time. Both of us haven't experienced any water-related activity yet this vacation so we decided to go to Manila to visit the water spa. As much as I would love to blog the experience, I don't have any photos since the spa doesn't allow gadgets inside the water area. Actually, I saw a post from a friend before who got shots insides the spa which is contrary to their rules. I thought then that the institution removed the ban on gadgets but the person whom I asked didn't responded so I thought, she just broke the rule. Even though I badly want to take photos, I restrained myself and followed their order. One kind citizen of PH here. :)

Anyway, after the 4 hour spa experience, we were so tired and hungry that we decided to eat at any resto on SM North. It's been a while since we visited the mall. We don't normally visit Manila, that's why. I am originally looking for Bigoli at SM Annex but I think it closed down already so we ended up going inside Buffalo's Wings and Things. I feel like eating wings that time and something spicy so we both agreed to try it out for curiosity.

Since we didn't had lunch and it was already around 2 pm that time, I want to choose the burger but my belly wants some rice. I got 1/2 pound of the Champion Buffalo Wings in New York's finest. It was just the mid level of spiciness and Jaycee got a Single No Bones Fun Armageddon. We both had New York dirty rice and 2 Downtown Iced Tea.

While waiting for the food to be served, I notice that there are some explanation hanging around the place on how we feel the flavor while we eat. I think this serves as a reminder to everyone that whatever we taste and feel was just all in our head.

The place was a typical New York style diner that there are those counter available and there are also separate tables and chairs as well.

Orders arrived and their concept of placing the rice in a styro cup is great but it takes too much space since they also gave us some paper plates if we wish to transfer the rice. Let's save Mother Earth please.

New York Dirty Rice - P39.00 each cup
1/2 pound of Champion Buffalo Wings (New York's finest) - P149.00
Single No Bones Fun (Armageddon) - P139.00
Downtown Iced Tea - P49.00 each
I totally like the place and even their soap in the washing area, it's melon btw. :) Anyway, I took my order in a very fast pace mode since I was really hungry. The challenge was Jaycee's. It was actually our norm that if we order a different dish from the other, we usually exchange a piece or two from our dish so that we can taste both. So I pick one from my plate and transferred transfer it to his plate but he didn't gave me my share from his. He told me that I might not eat it since it's really spicy. Since I'm so boastful and I'm so over-the-top when it comes to spicy food, I even challenged him that I can do it. He then transferred his piece of chicken with a heavy heart. Haha

I should have known that he was only up to good for me. I literally drank almost a liter and more of the refilled water and I can see the evil smile of the staff. She might be thinking that I'm crazy that I accepted the challenge. It was super and excruciatingly SPICY AND PAINFUL!!!! I DID NOT ENJOYED IT AT ALL! T__T

Apart from that, I kind of enjoy my dish since it's not really spicy at all even if it's already at the mid level of the spice rank. We still managed to smile after the taste of real pain. Haha. Photos below are pre-shots before the real deal though. Haha

Will recommend? Still undecided. Guess if I tried more of their food though, I can decide with conviction. For now, everything was just so-so.

Anyone who ate here already? What dish can you recommend that will make my decision different? I might come back here again when I visit Manila so your recommendation will be of good use. :)

More food posts on the blog next week! I will be attending a food event soon so watch out for that! XOXO ♥

  8. Ahmm. why they still use styro on food products? I mean, the food is great but the way they serve it is not that nice.

    1. Yup, I also noticed that. I actually don't like them using styro. I would understand if it's for take out. Not really earth-friendly. :(

  16. We've been to Buffalo Wings N Things at its old location in Greenhills a few times and quite liked it. I don't think we had anything but the Wings. My husband couldn't do the Spiciest blend though, while I had the mildest because I'm not really one who likes spicy food hehe.
