Food Getaway: Colette's

Who wouldn't know Colette's when you are talking about buko pies/coconut pies here in the Philippines? Colette’s Buko Pie and Pasalubong is a business that produces a variety of pies, rice cakes and pastries, with buko pie as its carrier product. So when we (boyfriend and I) went to Laguna last V-day, it is a 'must' to drop by Colette's.

It's actually out of the way going home but since I requested Jaycee that we need to get 2 boxes at least, he oblige. Well, he need to! LOL ^o^

I forgot when was the last time I ate this buko pie and I really loved it eversince that's why I kept on requesting pestering Jaycee that we buy one. We ended up with two boxes. One for my family at home and one for his.♥

My knowledge on Colette's was that it's branches were scattered in Laguna and Tagaytay. Little did I know that it also has branches out of the said cities. I did a little research on Colette's as to how it started.

The Beginnings of Colette's
It was in 1989 when couple Atty. Regina Bulatao-dela Cruz and Plaridel dela Cruz seriously considered going into another business, as a previously-managed family business proved to be unsuccessful for the latter. Their daughter, Colette, was still then attending secondary school at UP Los Banos. Their constant trips to Los Banos introduced Atty. Dela Cruz to the delectable taste of buko pie. Realizing the potentials of a buko pie business in San Pablo where buko pies where non-existent at the time, Atty. Dela Cruz prodded her husband to put up a buko pie business. The couple decided to search for somebody from Los Banos who had know-how in buko pie making. They found an experienced buko pie baker who was willing to teach the process of buko pie-making for a fee.

Initially, Mr. Dela Cruz opted to produce pan de sal alongside the pies. However, it was the pies which apparently captured the market. From the moment they began baking their first pies which sold for PhP19.00, they were already a hit with the customers. From an initial production of 20 pies a day during the first few days of opening, production shot up to at least 50 pies daily in the succeeding days.

Oh look at those buko chunks!!! Obviously, I even forgot to take a shot of the untouched buko pie because when I reached home, my sister immediately opened the box while I was changing clothes and she loved it as so much! As of this writing, I am AGAIN craving for another box!

Each box costs P160.00. If only I can bring 3-5 boxes back to Pampanga I would but obviously I cannot since we just commuted going there. Also my boo gave me some chocolates. He's spoiling me since it's V-day. Haha

Another food getaway it is. I want to try different restos here in our place soon. So watch out for that. I am now declaring that this is a beauty and food blog. LOL. I just love food! (~.o)

Cheers! Xoxo ♥

Haul: Sample Room #9

I got this haul few weeks ago and totally left my post on drafts. Why? I am trying to purchase another set of samples from Sample Room and thinking of blogging it in one article with this but every time I check their site, products I want were already out of stock.

By the way, I've been dying to blog for a week now but this desktop PC was so slow making me pissed. Now that I have an extra time to manage the slowness of this gadget since it's the weekend, I can blog a post or two.

I was happy with this purchase. I got two boxes of Calchews for my daily intake of Calcium which I even blogged about here. Each of my boxes only contains 4 pcs each as of this writing. So yummy and chewy! I would definitely repurchased this! :)

This Celeteque lip balm is something I am looking forward to use. I am thinking of using it this week since I want to try other lip balm than my current EOS.

Also, Sample Room added a mini-sample of their Anti-Aging Cleansing Oil which is not on my order. (The ones above are all full-sized) So kudos for that!

So that's it for my latest SR haul. I hope they will update their products and offer more on fragrances or makeup tools. Hear my prayers please! Aha! ^o^

See you on my next haul! :) ♥

Review: TFS Supreme Cereal Brown Rice Mask Sheet

Before Vday, I was so busy pampering and beautifying myself because I will be finally meeting boyfriend's relatives in Laguna. Since I have a feeling that my skin was dry before the big day, I purchased a facial mask at TFS last Thursday. I didn't opted for skin facial 'cause I might have red spots after the procedure and I'm afraid that it may last until the next morning. So mask is a good alternative! :)

This mask was more expensive than the ones I bought before, I didn't mind at all since I was thinking that this might give a different effect on my skin. I was right! :).

Anyone would want to look the most beautiful woman when meeting their partners' relatives right? So purchasing this even if it's twice the budget is not a big deal for me at all. I just want my skin to look moisturized on that day. It would really help boost my confidence if I feel I have good skin.

I really feel great with this mask since I felt that my skin really absorbed this mask. After application, I really felt that my skin was too moisturized that I can even feel it ithe next morniing. Proof is my boyfrined mentioned that I am blooming that day! Haha. It might be true or maybe because it's just Valentines Day. ♥

Yay for me! (。◕‿◕。)

  • It smells nice.
  • Really great in moisturizing the face.
  • Easy to apply.
  • Less dripping.
Nay! (。)
  • Big on my face. (Again and again.)
Price: P125.00
Bought from: The Face Shop
 Size: 2000 mg. - 1 sheet

Since my boyfriend told me that I am blooming that day, I am more than happy! He always says that even if I don.t prettify myself, I'm always the most beautiful woman on the planet. Aaaww. Sweet!

So if you need a quick fix in moisturizing your skin and want to achieve glowing and blooming skin, you can opt for a mask instead. :)

How was your Vday btw? Drop your comments below. I'm excited to read 'em.

My (Broken) 88 Eyeshadow Palette!

Since it's my first time to purchase a big makeup set, particularly an 88 eyeshadow palette, I was kind of disappointed with what happened to my recent purchase at Romwe. I ordered the eyeshadow and was very excited to receive. I planning this purchase because I want to use this to practice on how to put on eyeshadow makeup. See this.

I chose warm colors for this set. I want to practice on creating dramatic effects so I chose the one with those brown and beige. But why is it damaged? I tried to email Romwe's customer service but they're not replying to my inquiry.

I don't really know what happened but the package was packed in several covers like bubble wrap and all. I think maybe, it wasn't packed correctly that's why 2 of the palettes were damaged. Here are the series of how was it packed.

I think the covers were very thin and they put a little bubble wrap around it. Tinipid! In the end, it damaged two shades which I think it was entirely the fault of the one who packaged it. They should have put consideration that it's a makeup and unlike the usual clothes, it should be properly sealed.

It's sad that my excitement after all turned into a slight disappointment but things like this can't be prevented because it happened already. I hope next time, they will consider suggestions on packaging properly. Until now, I emailed them twice but got no response. I ended up deciding not to exchange it anymore since it will take a lot of hassle on my part. I will just use this to practice on my goals, and that is to create eye shadow makeups. Let's see if I have the skill. LOL

Xoxo. ♥ :)

Chinese Series: When Love Walked In (Free Download)

Weekends, for me, are for marathons! That would count if I don't have dates with my boo or take home school work. LOL!

Since my sister's obsession hangover with Zhoumi since the Super Junior M's fanmeet was still on her bones, she requested me to complete the series of 'When Love Walked In' where the idol was there together with Victoria of f(x). This might sound unfamiliar to you. Sorry! This is the fangirl side of us. :) Zhoumi is a member of Super Junior M and Victoria is a member of a girl group in Korea named f(x).

Synopsis of the story:
Young, talented, and handsome Qin Yu Jiang (Calvin Chen) receives orders to look for Chairman Yuan's long lost granddaughter, Shen Ya Yin (Victoria/Song Qian). Because her grandfather tried every means to track her down to search for her and to separate her from her father, she and her father often moved houses and hid away from her grandfather when she was young. Eventually, her father fell ill and died. Since then, Ya Yin dislikes her grandfather because she feels that he has ruined her childhood happiness and was part of the cause contributing to her father's death. Ya Yin's guardian plotted a plan for her own daughter, Yu Ru (Ya Yin's cousin) to impose as Ya Yin to dupe Chairman Yuan into thinking that she is actually his long lost grand daughter. Yu Jiang gradually enters Ya Yin's heart but refuses to admit his love for her because she's Chairman Yuan's granddaughter. Ya Yin's evil cousin became an obstacle between Ya Yin and Yu Jiang.

If you want to download the series, here are the complete links. The subtitles are in English. :)

I am on episode 15 as of this writing. I will watch an episode or two tonight but have to skip the rest tomorrow because I will be out of town since it's V-day. Will resume the marathon on the weekend! :)

Are you familiar with this drama? This is a Chinese drama, but of nice concept. I say so because I wasn't bored for the whole 15 episodes. Let me update you on the upcoming episodes. For now, you can download the series on this page!

Enjoy! ♥

Review: Innisfree Apple Juicy Brightening Peeling Gel

I lost control of myself and just surfed all night and forgot that I will blog backlogs or make my exams for next week! Oh why do I always love cramming! Haha.

Anyway, here's another set of review for you guys. Remember my collective haul last time here? I bought some cosmetics at Dress Icon, an online retail store that sells cosmetics and other girl stuff. See my other post where I bought the Innisfree Brightening Peeling Gel? I feel like I am deceived. Here's why.

Perhaps it's the impulsive side of me that motivated me to buy this. Why? I never thought (and never asked) that it would be only this size!

I am most curious about Korean skincare products and every time I will got the chance to try and use it, I would. Since Dress Icon offers authentic US products for an affordable price, I assumed that this one is a steal but I was wrong. A 15ml is just a sample size and it cost me P99.00! It can be included on your haul when you purchase in Korea beauty stores. My sister just received a skincare of 15ml as a freebie when she bought cosmetics at Etude House in SoKor. That's why I was a bit disappointed as how this happened. I can't blame anyone. I didn't asked! Photos can just be really deceiving.

So for the review, I tried the product and yes, it is indeed a peeling gel that claims to give brightening effect after use. At first, I was really not convince to use it in the face so I ended up using it on my neck and other rough areas like my elbows and knees.

I am still battling if I'll use the remaining content on my face or not. It really doesn't have any visible effect as of now since the product is of little amount but hey, my skin has brightened up after using the gel.

The photo above is just to give you an idea of what peeling gel does. I think I'll just focus on using this on my neck, elbows and knees since there's few amount left in the mini tube. If this was only in full-sized, then I think it will do wonders of brightening the face.

Yay for me! (。◕‿◕。)
  • The concept of peeling to brighten is good for me.
  • Easy to apply.
Nay! (。)
  • You'll see the dirt on the skin.
  • Expensive for a P99.00 knowing that it's just a sample.
Price: P99.00
Bought from: Dress Icon
 Size: 15 ml

Have you tried the same product? Any reviews? Post it down below and I would glad to read them. :)
'Till the next. xoxo ♥

Food Getaway: Shakey's

I actually want to call this post The Cat and the Dog's Quarrel. We quarrel like those animals but always end up being together. HAHA. Boyfriend and I had our 65th monthsary (5years & 5months) last Monday and we celebrated it early but I had this post up so late! (Busy as usual!)

We dined at Shakeys since he requested for pizza. Earlier that day, we had some petty quarrel which turns out that I am not talking to him anymore and so he ended up buying these cute cats at Papemelroti. He actually requested the cashier if we can exchange one cat to a dog which is just like this set but it's not possible. It has to be with the same pair!

While waiting for the meal, he was playing with these cats and requested that I include both in all the food shots I took. So expect that they are present in all photos.

We ordered a group meal that comes with a large serving of Manager's Choice Pizza, Classic Spaghetti, and a pitcher of Iced Tea. While waiting the Garlic Bread arrived.

Garlic Bread
We also had one pitcher of Iced Tea. It is like we were drown by this! Still we ended up finishing the whole pitcher.

Iced Tea Pitcher
The spaghetti arrived and again, both cuties were present in the shots. They even have more exposure than us!

Classic Spaghetti Platter
I don't know how we ended up finishing this whole meal. Everything was in huge serving! All I can remember is we only have one few strands of spaghetti left and we even finished the whole pan pizza.

Manager's Choice
That's a total of P720.00. If you will buy each food in this set individually, it will cost around P900-P1000. Not bad for our monthsary treat! ♥

The photos are quite low quality but not bad at all given that I used my Samsung Galaxy Young which only has 2MP camera. I was even happy it turned out well like this.  :)

How do you usually spend your dates with your special someone? Share some recos that you think will be a hit for dates! I might spend mine like yours! ♥

V-day is near! Lovelots. Xoxo ♥

Food Getaway: CalChews

I recently received my 9th Sample Room haul and CalChews was included in my purchase. I'm totally loving CalChews!!! ♥

What is Calchews? It is the first calcium supplement in the market in soft chew form that offers an easy and delicious way of getting one's recommended daily dose of calcium. It's the only calcium brand that is enriched not only with Vitamin D3 but also with Vitamin K – vitamins essential for optimum bone health.

It contains:

Calcium is one of the most important minerals that our body needs. It is essential to maintain strong bones and healthy lifestyles.  It has also been found to contribute to weight management, strong teeth, and helps with PMS and mood swings.

Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K both provide the perfect combination for a more superior Calcium Supplement. Vitamin D3 is essential for proper calcium absorption that helps prevent bone diseases such as osteomalacia and osteoporosis.

Vitamin K ensures that the full benefit of calcium is directed to where our body needs it most – our bones. Vitamin K is the vitamin that binds Calcium to our bones.

CalChews soft chew form makes it easier and more convenient to take. It comes in Rich Chocolate and Creamy Caramel Flavors making sure that you always get your daily calcium requirement in a delicious way!

I'm taking up one CalChews a day to help me reach my daily calcium requirement. The last time I've checked, I have Osteopenia. I hope by taking this, it will lessen the problem. What I also like about it is it comes in Chocolate and Caramel flavor. Each box contains 15 pieces and sold at P180.00 per box. I received 2 boxes from Sample Room. One box for each variant. :)

I totally love this candy knowing that I don't drink milk too often and this also has the regular chocolate taste and caramel flavor. I prefer the former since I'm a choco-lover!!! I will totally repurchased after I finished these two boxes.

Have you tried CalChews? What's your take on it? Yay or nay?! Share your thoughts.

Review: Tony Moly Pureness 100 Propolis Mask Sheet Skin Soothing

Hi everyone! :)

I have another mask sheet to be reviewed from a different brand this time, Tony Moly! I know I've been blogging TFS and Etude mask lately. As long as Super Junior-M is the endorser of Tony Moly, expect more reviews from this line! Haha. I know I'm bias but I can't help it. #fangirlproblems

I mention to you guys that my sister had a huge haul worth 3k of Tony Moly products and this sheet was one of the few she got on the loot. She gave me some few stuff to be reviewed. You can view the post here.

This is the first Tony Moly mask I've tried and I can say that it's really worth a try! It's not because I'm biased with the endorsers, I just love how my skin felt after using this!

This is by far the mask that really moisten my face the next day after application. I literally got compliments from my students and co-teacher that I look blooming. It is this that I only use the night before. Well, of course I also used my BB cream and pressed powder then. Haha. :)

There's a silky feeling after 20 minutes of use and when I removed it and massage my face, the liquid was immediately absorbed. I woke up with a very bright feeling 'cause I felt like my skin was so fresh! Nothing beats the morning with a nice feeling on your skin right? :)

Yay for me! (。◕‿◕。)
  • It smells nice. Not too strong.
  • Easy to apply.
  • Cool feeling.
Nay! (。)
  • Big on my face. (Again.)
Price: P49.30
Bought from: Tony Moly
 Size: 21 ml - 1 sheet

Have you used the same mask? What do you say? Any recos? By far, this is the best mask I've tried among other mask I've reviewed. View all the mask I reviewed here

'Till my next post. Xoxo ♥

Nail Polish Haul!

I wanna share with you a recent discovery that I had few months ago.

There's this online shop in Facebook that will let you bid from a certain amount and most stuff are US authentic. That's none other than Bid From Zero. Bid From Zero is open for everyone especially for those who loves bidding and getting items from an auction.

Well, as you all know (if you're a reader of my blog) I love nail polishes! So when I first discovered about this online shop, I always dropped by their page from then on to see what items they have for the day. I chanced on mostly nail polishes one day so I bid for the first time and since I am the last bidder before midnight for each particular product, I am the one who gets to take home the item.

Hard Candy Just Nails - P60.00
Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers - P60.00
Claire's Sherbet Scented - P60.00
L.A. Colors Art Deco Gold Glitter - P60.00
Sally Hansen's HARD AS NAILS ACRYLIC GEL - P80.00
They also added an additional item which is also a nail polish. I really love freebies and getting extra stuff. Thanks Bid From Zero! :)

I only paid P320.00 for all five nail polishes. What's good about my purchase is I bought each product at more than half the price. The variety are also not common and easy to find here in PH so I can say that it's a successful bid I made after all. Next time, I'll bid more on skin care products or lippies from Revlon. (~o^)

Are you familiar with bidding shops too? What do you say? I'll update you guys with my NOTDs with these colors soon so watch out! :)

Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post. I purchased all products on this article.
